No 8 There are no "Good" people in any other religion. If they were good they'd join Jehovah's Witnesses.
WT is able to deflect criticism from itself and onto others by pointing to the genuine faults in others as if WT hasn't got those same faults too! Its a clever trick. You can't imagine why the man who robbed the bank (so to speak) pointed to all the pick pockets and called them thieves.
On the subject of needing to think things through yourself - yes it is vital. And if you look at how Jesus taught, he made his disciples ask questions. The Greek word for disciple is mathete. It is where we get out word 'maths' from. It means working things out. Passing info through your own mind.
Certain parts of the Bible require considerable thought, like a treasure hunt. That is the very opposite of brain washing. You have to be prepared to do the searching and working out yourself, not depend on someone else to do it for you.
